The CBD Craze
CBD is that sexy three letter word that the world has been fussing about in recent years. It's new and emerging but people still don't really know what it is or what it does - especially in London.
That's where Walt's Wellness comes in.
We are from the States where CBD (derived from hemp) has been widely consumed and cultivated for quite some time. The laws and regulations there are more strict than the UK because it has been traded considerably longer. When we found out that the UK had opened up it's doors to welcome CBD we saw it as an opportunity to get over and start educating people about it so people can trust what they are getting and where they are getting it from.
So, what is CBD?
CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is a compound that is found in the Cannabis plant. Before you start thinking about Cannabis and 'getting stoned,' please understand that CBD doesn't get you high and has no psychoactive effect on your brain - that would be 'THC,' also known as Tetrahydrocannabinol, which is illegal here in the UK.
We aren't allowed to make any health claims when it comes to marketing CBD but a quick google search about the compound will lead you through a plethora of articles from users receiving wonderful benefits from it. From pain and anxiety relief, to better sleep and cognitive function, to skin and cosmetics, CBD has been known to benefit all aspects of general well-being.
CBD comes in many different forms and products so how you take is entirely up to you. For example, if you had pain in a specific region of your body, a cream or balm would be recommended so that you could concentrate on that specific area for relief. Perhaps the most common way to take CBD is orally in the form of oral drops. Taking it this way allows it to get into your blood stream and really benefit your Endocannabinoid system.
What is the Endocannabinoid system?
The Endocannabinoid system, also known as the ECS, in a quick sentence, regulates the body's systems to maintain homeostasis. Every mammal in the world has one and will always have one. Basically, scattered throughout our body are Cannabinoid Receptors, known as CB1 & CB2. These exist in our central nervous system, immune system, gastrointestinal system, hormones, bones, muscles and metabolism. CBD essentially helps maintain these receptors and keep them in good nick.
Today, CBD is being traded all over London in various different shops - the problem we've found is being able to trust the products and where they came from. There have been some recent articles referring to some products containing the wrong substances and other products not containing any CBD at all. That's not us.
We offer extremely solid products that have been tested by us and then tested again by a third-party lab to ensure the quality. Our most important value though is educating. We never stop learning and are always eager to teach what we come across to our community.
Come on down to Fulham and check out the shop and ask any question you'd like. If we don't have the answer - we will find it for you.
